TRANSPORTATION

Air

T.F. Green Airport (PVD) in Providence, Rhode Island, is about 45 minutes away by car and the closest airport to Mystic, Connecticut. For those not picking up a rental car, ground transportation is available by taxi or by train from downtown Providence.

Bradley International Airport (BDL), serving the Hartford/Springfield area, is about 1 hour and 15 minutes away by car. The bus and train connections to Mystic are not as good. However, if you plan to rent a car for the course of your stay, it is a good option.

Note: None of the hotels in Mystic offer airport shuttles.

Train

There is good train service to Mystic (4 times per day) from Providence, New York, and Boston and points north and south. The Mystic Amtrak station (MYS) is right downtown, within walking distance or a short taxi ride from most of the hotels listed below.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Hotels

Participants will make their own hotel reservations. Mystic is a premier tourist destination and offers a wide range of accommodations, including basic motels, historic bed and breakfasts, inns, and full-service hotels. Most hotels are a half-mile or farther from the Mystic Seaport Museum. Please be sure to make your hotel reservations well in advance, since fall is a busy season in New England and choice accommodations may fill up well in advance.

If you don’t have transportation and will need a ride to the Seaport Museum, indicate this on your registration form, and we will arrange for another participant to pick you up at your hotel.
