Imprint Book Review Editor

The American Historical Print Collectors Society is looking for a new book review editor for Imprint, our scholarly journal.

Responsibilities

  • Identify for review appropriate new books about historical American prints or that make substantial use of prints to support a larger thesis. Possible sources of titles to consider include books by past AHPCS fellows, candidates for the Newman Book award, recommendations from AHPCS members, and books/notices received from publishers. In consultation with Imprint editor make selections.
  • Identify qualified reviewer and invite him/her to write a review. Contact publisher for review copy to be sent to reviewer and confirm that copy was received.
  • Do preliminary editing of book review draft in consultation with reviewer prior to sending it on to Imprint editor for final edit.

Qualifications:

  • Broad knowledge of print scholars and collectors in order to match books with appropriate reviewers.
  • Willingness to volunteer time to oversee the production of approximately 4-6 book reviews each year (2-3 per Imprint issue).

This is a volunteer position, but the successful applicant will receive a complimentary membership to the AHPCS while performing this role.
