Exhibit: “Etch and Flow,” Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts
June 28 - December 29
“Etch and Flow” at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts contemplates the improvisational quality of the etched line in works associated with the American Etching Revival and Impressionist art movements.
This exhibition will accompany From the Schuylkill to the Hudson: Landscapes of the Early American Republic, as a satellite installation featuring prints by artists associated with the American Etching Revival and Impressionism. The improvisatory quality of the etched line, drawn directly on the plate in en plein air settings, made it particularly suited to landscape subjects, and especially water scenes.
