The Bloody Massacre by Paul RevereDrawing on the American Antiquarian Society’s unparalleled collection of prints and books, the exhibition “Beyond Midnight: Paul Revere” at the New-York Historical Society will transform viewers’ understanding of the iconic colonial patriot.

This groundbreaking exhibition featuring more than 150 objects re-examines Revere’s life, transforming visitors’ understanding of the innovative businessman through an in-depth exploration of his accomplishments as a silversmith, printmaker, and pioneering copper manufacturer.

Examples of rare prints will be shown alongside elegant silver tea services and everyday objects such as thimbles and period newspapers to reveal new facets behind this versatile artisan best known for his midnight ride. This will be the first time all five 1770 printings of the Boston Massacre will be shown.

 

After January 2020, the exhibit will also be traveling to Massachusetts and Arkansas:

February 14, 2020-June 7, 2020: Worcester Art Museum and Concord Museum

July 1, 2020-October 11, 2020: Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Bentonville, AR
