2022 Regional Meeting: Clark Art Institute

July 29, 2022 @ 10:30 am - 2:00 pm EDT

A meeting of the American Historical Print Collectors Society will take place at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, Massachusetts on July 29th. The program will begin in the Manton Study Center for Works on Paper, where AHPCS member Rebecca Szantyr will present highlights from the Clark’s significant collection of prints by Winslow Homer and other American artists.  Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity to tour the special exhibition, José Guadaloupe Posada: Symbols, Skeleton, and Satire. Posada (1852-1913) was recognized during his lifetime as the foremost graphic artist of his native Mexico.  His prints include religious subjects, crimes, scandals, and caricatures of political figures and others and reflect the vibrant visual culture of Mexico before its 1910 revolution. The meeting will begin promptly at 10:30 and will be followed by an optional lunch in the Museum’s café.  After lunch, attendees will be free to continue their exploration of the Clark Art Institute and the many other cultural institutions in the area.

For the safety and comfort of everyone, Covid 19 restrictions will be observed, and those attending should be fully vaccinated against the virus.  Note that face masks are required by the Clark for all visitors aged 5 and over who are not fully vaccinated.
